We have been working out in Kyuquot, BC loading up beach trash and hauling it off the shoreline. The bulk of the garbage was collected by Luke Osenenko and the Nuu-chan-nulth Tribal Council this summer. We ended up building a giant raft out of some of the larger pieces of styrofoam and floating the garbage off the shoreline in two massive loads!
UPDATE: We have now co-created two NOAA cumulative survey sights just outside of Kyuquot, BC and managed to float tonnes of garbage off of Brooks Peninsula, Vancouver Island BC! What a great week, thanks so much to Luke and Heh-tin’kis from the Nuu-Chah- Nukth Tribal Council. We are excited to continue our work together and look forward to building cleaner oceans.
